1.Mây cuốn mịt mù che khuất ánh sao,

Lạnh lùng sương xuống đã lâu,

Hồn đêm nay mơ về đâu?

Nhiều khi nhìn trời sao chiếu thần tiên,

Lòng hằng mơ ánh sao hiền,

Lộng lẫy sáng giữa trời đêm...

Clouds swirl, shrouding the starlight.

Dew had been falling for a while. 

Where does my soul dream of tonight?

Oftentimes, looking at the starlit night with fairy lights,

my heart always dreams of a gentle star

shining radiantly in the night sky. 

Tôi muốn tìm về vang bóng lúc xưa,

Mà lòng sao mãi ngẩn ngơ,

Tàn đêm qua tôi nằm mơ :

Và mơ trời vừa tan bóng hoàng hôn,

Một vì sao rớt trong hồn,

Dịu như ngàn câu mến thương!

I want to find the happy times of the past,

but why does my heart always feels like being lost.

Last night, I lay dreaming:

I dreamt of the sky just after sunset, 

a star falling into my soul,

soft as a thousand words of love!

Bao nhiêu lần đêm xuống mơ hồ,

Ngôi sao ngày xưa, hiện trong tim rạng rỡ,

Rồi tan biến thành ngàn thương nhớ...

So many poetic feelings submerged in the far horizon.

So many times the night descended in a misty illusion.

The star of the past, now shining brightly in the heart,

then disappearing into a thousand reminiscences.

...Nhung đã muộn làm sao níu giấc mơ,

Tìm làm sao những phút xưa

Ngùi trông sương rơi thờ ơ.

Giờ đây ngoài trời khuya vắng mình tôi,

Tìm vì sao khuất bên trời,

Thầm mơ một tinh tú rơị..

...But it's too late to hold onto the dream.

How to find those past minutes.

Watching with sadness, night dew falling indifferently.

Now outside in the forlorn night, just me.

Seeking for the hidden star in the sky;

silently dreaming of a distant constellation...

2.Tê tái lặng nhìn năm tháng lướt mau,

Nghẹn ngào như mới vắng nhau,

Hồn mênh mang mơ về đâu?

Mộng xưa tàn rồi tôi vẫn còn mơ,

Tình ngày xưa có xa mờ,

Lòng vẫn luyến nhớ ngày xưạ..

Numb with sadness, I watch the months and years fleeting by.

Choked up with feelings as if we have just parted.

Where does the wandering soul dream?

The old dream has faded, but I still dream,

The love of the past may be blurry,

but the heart still yearns for the bygone days...

Năm ấy mình thường đi dưới ánh sao,

Hẹn rằng khi thấy nhớ nhau,

Mình ra bên song tìm saọ..

Nhìn sao thề rằng yêu mãi người ơi !

Dù nhiều giông tố trong đời,

Dù cho ngàn sao đổi ngôi !

In those days, we often walked under the starlight.

Promised that when we missed each other,

we would go to the riverbank to find a star...

Looking at the stars, swearing to love each other forever!

Despite life's many storms,

Even if a thousand stars change places!

Nay xa ngàn phương, lòng se sắt khôn lường,

Đêm đêm sầu thương nhớ qua hồn,

Tôi đi tìm sao, thầm ôm trong vạt áo,

Mà sao khuất mờ bên trời caọ..

Now, in a faraway place, I feel so forlorn. 

Night after night, sorrow and longing passing through my soul,

I wander in search of a star, and hope to hold it in my heart. 

But the star fades away in the vast sky...

Không biết giờ này phương ấy xa xôi,

Người tình xưa có nhớ tôị

Mà đi trong sương mờ rơị

Mà mơ, mà nhìn lên cõi trời cao,

Mà ngùi thương những năm nào...

Mà mong tìm một ánh sao?

as she walks in the misty fog...

and dreams, and looks up to the high sky,

and reminisces with sweet sorrow of bygone years...

and hopes to find a star?
